Writing | It's prewriting..

It's Prewriting?

Do you feel confuse to start writing a paragraph? Most of the writers always think a lot before the write. Maybe, just waiting the idea or inspiration to write. Well, writing is something about skill. Getting the good skil to write well, we should know about the process of writing. The 3 steps of writing process are the following : Prewriting (generating ideas, planning, and organizing your ideas), Writing (using your ideas to write a first draft), and revising or editing (improving whay you have written).
Today I studied about the first process of writing that is about prewriting. Prewriting is is a way to warm up your brain before you write., just as warm up your car's engine before you drive. Following are several prewriting techniques that writers use to generate ideas. Some of the most poopular methods are brainstorming, clustering, freewriting, and keeping a journal.

- Brainstorming
Brainstorming is a quick way to generate a lot of ideas on a subject. You can write anything in your mind about the topic as quick as you can do. Then, you must make the classification of the list that you have written. Then cross out the items that do not belong. After that choose the one that you want to write among all.
For example :
  1. The topic >> Your favorite actors and acrtess
  2. Then you list : (Fedi Nuril, Robert Pattinson, Deny Sumargo, Raline Syah, Herjunot Ali, Reza Rahadian, Kim Hyung Joon, Woo Young, Kristen Steward, Suzy, etc.)
  3. After that you make the classification of them weather it is about old/ young actors or Indonesian actress.
  4. After you get the classification, you should choose the one that you will write about it.

Clustering
If you like to work with information visually, you can choose clustering. This is a technique to show the connection between the topic and the others using circles and lines.
For example :
  1. Write the topic in the center  of the paper
  2. Think about something around the topic
  3. Write something that you think it has connection with the topic
  4. Think about any ideas and connect it with the topic too
  5. Repeat this process untill you run out of your ideas
clustering

- Freewriting
It is the one that I like most, freewriting. It is writing as much as you can, as fast as you can. You can write anything in your mind. Don't ever stop to write! If you can't, you just write "my mind is blank or empty". After finish, read your freewriting and see if there is any ideas that you can develop to be better.
